Pinch Pot Penguin
My penguin is about the size of a tea cup, I could wrap both of my hands around my pinch pot. The pinch pot has 3-D eyes, wings, beak, feet, and a hat with a bow on it. The feet and the beak are yellow, the bow tie on the hat is tomato red, and the body, hat, and eyes are all brown. My pinch pot penguin turned out just the way I liked it before I glazed it. When I glazed it I at first thought that the body and hat of the penguin would be black instead of brown but it's okay I still like my piece. My whole penguin did stay in contact and did not break or explode. I did everything correctly except when it came to gazing, I should have put more layers on the brown parts of the penguin so it turned black and smooth instead of brown and rough. The new skill I learned from this assignment was that when glazing clay I need to layer the glaze a lot to make the glaze smoother and a brighter glaze. One art element I learned was form. Form is the simplicity or complexity, beauty or ugliness of the piece, and whether the piece is whole or broken. My pinch pot project, it is important because it's a christmas decoration and christmas decorations bring joy and happiness to a persons mood.
