My progress in art class, I feel, has gone significantly far since the begging of the first semis semisester. I have been working from when I get into class (sometime before class starts) till the very end of class completely focused on my artwork and what I can do better and fix. I fell my biggest success would be my spooky tree drawing we drew on the iPad. I feel that I had the shadings and darkness/ lightness contrast right. What surprised me was that we actually made clay that functionally worked to hold things (excepting of pinch pot. My favorite project was the pinch pot. The new skill I learned from this assignment was that when glazing clay I need to layer the glaze a lot to make the glaze smoother and a brighter glaze. One art element I learned was form. Form is the simplicity or complexity, beauty or ugliness of the piece, and whether the piece is whole or broken. this affected my finished my product because instead of turning a smooth black
i expected it turn a r ought brunette. I would use my new skills in the future for a job a

Firm Slab Box
The name of this project is firm slab box. My box is about the length of an iPhone 5, the width of an iPhone 4, and the height of an average sized thumb. On my box I used different sized buttons painted with different colors as well (pink, maroon, yellow, gray, and white as the background color) to make one of the large sides and for the other side I used the rim of an average plastic cup to make the ring shapes with only maroon for the design and white for the background.. For the last two side, smaller sides, I made the a vertical striped design. One new skill I learned from this project is paying attention to detail. Details like if the glaze is the right one for the kiln. One art element that I learning is beveled which is a 45 degree angle. The mood of my piece was supposed to be calm in with sooth colors. Soft Slab Cup
The name of this project is a soft slab cup. The form of my cup is well a cup. Its features are 3 mickey mouse heads: 1. Red head and ears with a yellow outline, 2. and 3. are black mickey mouse heads. One of the black heads is small and on the handle bar, the other is bigger and next to the red one. The unique part of my soft slab cup is my handle. The handle is glazed half way up with res with two yellow stripe/spots in the middle of the red section and the rest of the handle is black with a mickey mouse head on the top. Inside the cup is tomato red and around the outside of the cup there is a white glaze and little yellow diamonds. One new skill I learned from this project is the importance of scoring. Before I wasn't scoring enough because the things I put on my cup fell off easily and wasn't sturdy enough until I scored it properly. One art element that I learned from this project was shape. Shape implies spatial form and is usually perceived as 2-D. This project is important because it shows me my childhood. As a kid I always went to Disney resorts/cruises and my best memories happened there and thats why I made this the design of this cup and why I won't let Disney go. Pinch Pot Penguin
My penguin is about the size of a tea cup, I could wrap both of my hands around my pinch pot. The pinch pot has 3-D eyes, wings, beak, feet, and a hat with a bow on it. The feet and the beak are yellow, the bow tie on the hat is tomato red, and the body, hat, and eyes are all brown. My pinch pot penguin turned out just the way I liked it before I glazed it. When I glazed it I at first thought that the body and hat of the penguin would be black instead of brown but it's okay I still like my piece. My whole penguin did stay in contact and did not break or explode. I did everything correctly except when it came to gazing, I should have put more layers on the brown parts of the penguin so it turned black and smooth instead of brown and rough. The new skill I learned from this assignment was that when glazing clay I need to layer the glaze a lot to make the glaze smoother and a brighter glaze. One art element I learned was form. Form is the simplicity or complexity, beauty or ugliness of the piece, and whether the piece is whole or broken. My pinch pot project, it is important because it's a christmas decoration and christmas decorations bring joy and happiness to a persons mood. My favorite clay piece was my pinchpot penguin. My pinchpot penguin is like a penguin; it has wings, a beak, and webbed feet. To make my penguin different from all the other ones I added a top hat with a bow on it. I feel as if my penguin turned out just the way I wanted it too; nothing chipped or broke off my penguin which was a very good thing! So far this year I have learned many things. The skills I have learned throughout the semister was that I learned how to anchor my hand when I draw or paint or just do art overall. Also I learned to crosshatch. Anchoring my hand over my artwork is important because well 1. So it doesn’t smear and 2. If I am crosshatching then it makes it easier to get more lines in the art to make the artwork therefore better than it was before. Crosshatching is important because it makes the object more detailed which also makes the art better than without the crosshatching. Cross hatching helps a person see more into the detail of the makings of an object which is important for making a drawing realistic. After learning how to cross hatch we learned how to paint impressionistically; painting apples, haystacks, parliament after Monet, and painting a face. How to correctly draw a face; measured and guided. Also I learned to draw a skull. The sculpture of a head is very complicated and hard to learn. I started making my first clay project today and I learned how to make a pinch pot. Next we learned to make a soft slab cup and finally for our last clay project we learned how to make a firm slab box by making a 90 degree edge by joining two 45 degree angles. Our very last project before the semester is over is learning how to use all the tools and effects on the iPad drawing apps.
